Feelings? Spirits? The universe? It's still a business. Do the thing.
I find myself saying "Do the thing" a lot. Just go and do. If it doesn't work, change direction. Did I learn this by way of a spiritual event? Yeah.
Did I also learn this from opening businesses and messing up and being successful and watching the economy change suddenly and losing everything and rebuilding and of course, major life changes/decisions? You bet.
When I started doing this whole psychic thing I did the only thing I knew after decades in the restaurant business. I built it like any other business. Of course, I did it after I put in some time building clientele, making sure I could do the work full time, seeing if there were other things I could do with the readings so I wouldn’t exhaust myself daily. Then and only then did I actually build it. I made it legal——which I still question because have you noticed the state of the world lately? But I created the structure like any other business.
I wanted to put out there that I was ready for this business to work and that when (not if) it got really big, I had the platform to support it. I wanted to make sure that I was locked in——not trying to get out when it got hard. No body does this work as an easy out and I had to be true to myself. So I created responsibility. I had to work to keep it going to do good to be true to myself.
Ouch.
This all being said the other thing I love about business is reading businesses. Doing projections and helping entrepreneurs and CEOs strategize is one of my specialties. I love working with people and seeing them love their business again when we finally get them unstuck or just let them get some juicy details they can bite into.
Many people in the spiritual field refer to money as energy. I don’t think of it that way. For me it just doesn’t read as it’s own energy except that money in paperform has energy like any other object.
Business is energy because it is the dynamic between you and other people—-seeing their needs, reacting to it and planning accordingly. Business readings aren’t just where the money is but who to hire and what kind of crazy the new client might bring you. It’s also a repositioning of your view of any one moment. Business is emotional. Readings can bring valuable clarity. It’s one of the surprising things I’ve found since I started this whole shebang. I love practicality.
In the meantime I’m working on a class with the amazing Renee Rotkopf on The Business Of Spirituality. Stay tuned.
