Notes from a Psychic Part 1: People are the sum of their parts and a sum of your parts....
And a sum of the world
Note #1
It came up in conversation the other day that some psychic readings seemed “easy” and “light” where as others felt “huge” and “bigger than us” and “serious even when they’re not”.
I really appreciated this observation. It came from a questions this client had about how I read. They compared my readings to the more serious of the two. They said they had the feeling it wasn’t anything I had control over. I told them I don’t think, once we’re in the reading we have control over the depth of the reading. We definitely have control over how we deliver the messages and kindness—-so don’t let a reader tell you otherwise.
This got me thinking about writing this week. One of the interesting things I’ve learned since I took this whole shebang full time 10 years ago is that the clearest sharpest readings come from respecting the clients place in the world. Who they are, what their home culture and country of origin culture are like. How they sit in the world. I look for their place in the big piece of fabric we’re all a part of.
If we don’t look at the life experience of the client, how can we possibly respect the clarity of the message coming through?
This is what makes me untrusting of psychics that come from a place of organized religion. The insistence that what is right and what is wrong is controlled by the personal beliefs of the reader, to me, is reading with a blocked lens.
I should clarify that I am referring to colonized religions, not indigenous faiths that are built on intuitive experiences.
Note #2
I had a reading today. As in I got read. There’s a psychic medium about a mile from my house. We have mutual friends and everyone told me we should meet. I thought I’d do the neighborly thing and just book myself a reading. I realize that I was taking a chance as I had no idea if she was as open to other readers as I was but it worked out. I can honestly say it was an extraordinary reading. I just loved it.
