There's a conference for psychics and other magical types. And I'm going. Also, I answer a bunch of questions.
I'll chronicle this whole thing that's veering in between a German sit com and an early John Waters/Fellini collab.
Early this spring I was telling a friend of mine I wanted to go away. A vacation. By myself. Something just mine. “You want to go to Italy to a conference for people like us?” She could have stopped at Italy, of course. I would be happy with just her and a trip to Italy. Us means those of us in the business of psychic stuff, magical work and intuition. My friend is Sasha Graham. Tarot diva.
This event usually takes place in Berlin but this year it’s in Italy in an undisclosed location. Well, I know NOW where it is but I won’t be sharing it with you. I just found out in the info packed email I received last week.
I had to apply. I had to be vetted and accepted. Held by a group that calls themselves the Fellowship Of The White Mountain, there will be talks on science and mysticism, classes and I assume readings of all sorts. Events and activities all day every day for a week.
I am beyond excited. To be in a place where everyone has the same “thing” as you in some way seems impossible——to good to be true. To be honest, if this was held in the States, I wouldn’t have gone. In my experience the European practices align a bit more with my own. There’s an honor to one’s own ancestral culture that I’m excited to experience. Sadly, in America, we are a nation built on cultural appropriation and, well, cultural destruction. Not that the Europeans are free of that but there is a political understanding and need for reparations from the magical people I know that I’m looking forward to.
I’m looking forward to the conversations and more than anything THE WEIRDNESS. Oh yes, the weirdness. If this isn’t weird I’m going to be tragically disappointed. 66 people are allowed to be in attendance.
My friend, Sasha, who told about this event couldn’t make it in the long run but one of the things she mentioned early on was that she was looking forward to going and not teaching. Just being a student. As two teachers of the ethereal arts I agree. It will be nice to sit and absorb and of course allow myself a humility that I don’t always get when teaching. Not that I puff myself up but it takes a moment of assuring your own confidence, a knowing that you are full enough to give of yourself and hold space for everyone in that class.
Here is what they ask of us to bring:
What to Bring:
Comfortable clothing for all activities
A warm jacket or sweater for cooler evenings
Your magical tools
Yoga mat (if you cannot bring it due to luggage restriction, we have some spare ones!)
Whatever you need for yourself: consider we are far from reality! We will have a drinks/snacks service apart from the 3 daily meals.
Tools. Dead people are my tools. The vast void of energy inside all our bodies is what I work with. Packing should be easy.
In getting to this location, just to add to the mysticism, I will have to land in Milan then go for an hour bus ride to Milan Centrale Train station then take two more trains only to be met by a shuttle to the location. What’s the dreamy/psychic/magical term for schlep?
More to come about this.
Months ago I was interviewed for a magazine. Photo shoot, the works. In the aftermath the author sent me a list of interesting lightening round questions that might help those of you new to me, understand where I come from.
I haven’t heard back from them in forever so here goes:
